Cripple Creek, Colorado.......

This is an oil pastel of an old abandoned building near Cripple Creek, Colorado.  It is an old silver mining town up in the mountains.  When you take a train ride to see some of the mining areas there is this shed left from the past mining era.  Oil pastel is a fun medium to use as it is painting with sticks of oil pigments.  I sometimes thought it must have been like painting with a tube of lipstick by the way it would rub onto the painting surface. You can blend colors easily right on the surface as it is an open material for quite some time.

I have seen this at art stores but never tried it. I just need more motivation.

I love oil pastels especially when you blend them with turpenoid! Great drawing. I've got to do that carousel house.

I love buildings. I have a little trouble doing buildings, but I will keep trying. Your art piece is lovely.

As a critical Caribbean character with half a life in the north east of USA, I declare that looking at this painting, memories of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire have arrived quickly with the smell of wood burning....or a clam bake... bourbon, with the works on a 4th of July.

Congratulations....
